NHLPA Issues Strong Warning to Arizona Coyotes Ownership
The Arizona Coyotes struggles, both on and off the ice, have been a lingering issue in the NHL. The uncertainty around their future in Arizona has become more pressing, especially regarding their search for a new arena.
Marty Walsh, Executive Director of the NHL Players Association, minced no words when discussing the Coyotes' situation with Sportsnet. According to him, time is running out for the Coyotes as they have yet to make any progress in securing a new arena.
In Walsh's own words, «They were talking about, 'Oh, we're going to find a new place pretty quickly.' The year has gone by and they haven't found anything, at least to my knowledge. So the clock is ticking on Arizona, in my opinion."
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman weighs in, connecting the dots between the Coyotes' inaction and the NHL's consideration of Salt Lake City for potential expansion.
Regarding Salt Lake City: «To me, that's a message to the Arizona Coyotes. The NHL has basically said they need to know about Arizona by the All-Star break, well, we're a week and a half from the All-Star break» - Elliotte Friedman
The league had set a deadline for the Coyotes to finalize their plans by the All-Star break. However, with the break just around the corner, no tangible steps have been taken by the Coyotes.
