Being an NHL Head Coach is no cakewalk. It involves coaching players, devising strategies, and managing relationships with on-ice referees. Handling these relationships also means standing up for your players whenever necessary.
In the recent game between the Boston Bruins and the Vegas Golden Knights, coach Jim Montgomery found himself trying to express his dissatisfaction to the referees. Despite not having the best view, Montgomery attempted to defend his players.
The incident occurred when Charlie McAvoy was penalized for delay of game. Montgomery decided to voice his concerns to the referee until he caught a glimpse of the replay. To his realization, McAvoy was indeed guilty of putting the puck out of play. Initially, Montgomery had believed the puck had hit the stick of a Golden Knights player, which the replay clearly debunked.
