Cam Neely weighs in as Jeremy Swayman continues to give the Bruins problems
Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins are currently in the midst of contract talks, and it has not been going particularly well for either side.
According to a report from Shawn Hutcheon, both sides are still very far apart on a deal. As it turns out, they aren't just far apart on the price of the contract, but the length as well. This, of course, does not bode well, especially given the fact that the Bruins traded Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators.
However, in a recent interview, Cam Neely came out and tried to clear the air about the contract talks. He is essentially guaranteeing that something will get done soon. That said, he is acknowledging that it hasn't exactly been a super smooth process.
«Something will get done. There's no question,» Neely said. «I mean, not every negotiation is as smooth as you'd like it. I know our fan base would certainly love to have something done by now. But I'm fully confident that both sides will come to an agreement before too long here.»
For Bruins fans, this whole debacle has been a huge source of anxiety, and it is easy to understand why. Some are even concerned that an offer sheet could be on the way. However, at this stage, Swayman is probably too expensive for that to ever happen.
