The Calgary Flames hosted the Los Angeles Kings at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday night, but before the game even started, there was an incident worth noting.
Like usual, the Flames had a group of people for a ceremonial puck drop, including Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek.
Three out of the four people introduced received warm applause from the fans, who were excited about South Asian Celebration Night. However, when Mayor Gondek was introduced, instead of cheers, she was met with a chorus of boos, a stark contrast to the previous reception.
Nevertheless, the fans paid for their tickets and have the right to express their dissatisfaction by booing, as they did quite emphatically towards Mayor Jyoti Gondek that Saturday night.
