Chicago Blackhawks Head Coach Releases Major Update On Injured Player
The Chicago Blackhawks are getting a much-needed boost as Andreas Athanasiou gears up for his return to the ice.
Athanasiou, who's been sidelined with a groin injury since November 23, 2023, recently joined practice on February 20th, showing promising signs of progress.
According to Scott Powers from The Athletic, Athanasiou's return to practice is a positive step forward.
Although Blackhawks coach Luke Richardson mentioned that Athanasiou might not travel with the team for their upcoming games in Arizona or Colorado, there's hope he'll be ready to hit the ice when the Blackhawks face the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena on March 9th at 7:00 p.m.
Despite only playing 11 games this season, Athanasiou has managed to tally four assists, though he's currently at a -5 rating on the ice. His return could provide a much-needed offensive boost for the Blackhawks.
