NHL Superstar Reportedly Unhappy in Colorado: Will Explore Other Teams, Including Pittsburgh

The Colorado Avalanche made some big moves this season, and unfortunately, they didn't pay off as the team was bounced from the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the first round by their Central Division rival Dallas Stars and former star forward Mikko Rantanen.

Now, the team are reportedly having with one piece from the Rantanen trade, as Martin Necas is seemingly unhappy with how things went in Colorado, and according to Nick Kypreos, he is open to exploring options beyond the Avalanche.

If this is the case, this is certainly something that Kyle Dubas and the Pittsburgh Penguins should explore, as Necas won't be as expensive as a player like Jason Robertson on the trade market, and could work as a fantastic long-term piece beside Sidney Crosby for the remainder of his career.

In 2024/25 between Carolina and Colorado, Necas tallied 17 goals and 83 points with a +5 differential in 79 games played, and given what we saw when he played alongside Nathan MacKinnon, the Penguins would absolutely love what they saw.

Now, this leaves Kyle Dubas with another potential decision this summer, as they could potentially land a 26-year old with a bright future and plenty of production behind him, but if the team start to look for future assets in a deal rather than spending pieces to get a young forward, this may not be in the cards.
