The Colorado Avalanche have high expectations heading into 2025/26, and now they've suffered a devastating loss as a key forward goes down with injury.

After a promising 2024/25 regular season, the Colorado Avalanche's Stanley Cup hopes ended in disappointment once again, as the team fell in seven games to their fierce division rival Dallas Stars in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
One player that stepped up and gave his all in that series was talented forward Logan O'Connor, who tallied 2 goals and 6 points along with a +5 differential in the tough series defeat, showing the heart and potential that the organization has seen in him for quite some time.
Unfortunately, he won't be able to build on that momentum early next year, as reports have now confirmed that O'Connor will be out between 5 and 6 months after undergoing hip surgery, meaning he won't be ready for the start of the regular season.
This is a tough break for the 28-year old, as he's dealt with injuries to his hip in recent years, but now, the hope is that this surgery can get him back to 100%, with no fears that he'll miss the entire regular season.
In 80 games a season ago, O'Connor had just 21 points, his lowest season total since the 2020/21 campaign when he played in just 22 games, but given his consistent presence in their lineup, and his ability to effect the game on both ends of the ice, this is bound to be a major loss for the team.
Before we get to that point, there could be some major changes upcoming for the Avalanche, with rumours of Charlie Coyle and Martin Necas potentially wanting out in the summer, but now, they'll need extra forward depth to cover O'Connor until a potential return in November/December.
