Dallas Stars launch free service after another NHL failed deal
The Dallas Stars have introduced Victory+, a free in-market streaming service, after parting ways with Bally Sports. This new service aims to enhance fan engagement by offering a reliable and accessible way to watch games.
Since Diamond Sports, Bally Sports' parent company, filed for bankruptcy in March 2023, the Dallas Stars have proactively sought a solution to ensure their games remain accessible to fans. Announced on Monday, Victory+ will be available for free to fans in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas. The partnership with A Parent Media Co. spans seven years, providing stability for regional broadcasts.
"The Dallas Stars have launched a free in-market streaming service for fans called Victory+. It's a 7-year deal with A Parent Media Co. Again, if you live in Stars TV market it is now free to watch the team," Sean Shapiro of EP Rinkside said.
"After years of researching the right solution and careful planning with our partners at APMC, we're proud to announce this pioneering streaming platform that will literally change the game for sports distribution on VICTORY+," Dallas Stars President and CEO Brad Alberts said in a statement. "Our first priority has always been our fan base, and on VICTORY+ fans will be able to stream 100 percent of Stars content for free through this innovative and unique streaming platform for sports programming."
This initiative is a significant win for Dallas Stars fans, eliminating concerns over the future of regional broadcasts previously tied to Bally Sports. The Florida Panthers have made a similar move, transitioning from Bally Sports to Scripps Sports for local broadcasts.
It's worth watching if other teams affiliated with Bally Sports will follow suit, particularly for the 2025-26 season. Teams currently associated with Bally Sports include Anaheim, Carolina, Columbus, Detroit, Los Angeles, Minnesota, Nashville, St. Louis, and Tampa Bay.
