Detroit Red Wings Recive A Questionable Misconduct For An Odd Reason

The Detroit Red Wings clashed with the Chicago Blackhawks tonight in what turned out to be a pretty intense game. We've witnessed some peculiar calls from NHL officials this year, but the one during this game takes the cake.

Red Wings forward Klim Kostin found himself slapped with a 10-minute misconduct for 'continuing an altercation,' which is quite an eyebrow-raising decision. If you missed it, Kostin cross-checked Connor Murphy, dropped his gloves to engage in a fight, and swiftly took him down.

The penalties handed out were interesting –
Kostin got a 2-minute minor for cross-checking, a 2-minute minor for roughing, and a 10-minute misconduct for continuing the altercation. In contrast, Murphy only got a 2-minute minor for roughing.

While it looked like Kostin wanted to keep control on Murphy as the refs stepped in, many are scratching their heads over whether a misconduct was really warranted. It's instances like these that make you wonder if NHL officials are aiming for the spotlight.
