When it was revealed that Datsyuk would be making the Hall of Fame, the UCC spoke out. Subsequently, the HHOF responded, standing by their decision to honor the Detroit Red Wings legend. Now, however, the UCC is clapping back yet again. This time, it is because Datsyuk attended a tournament that was honoring two deceased Russian veterans.
CEO and Executive Director of the UCC Ihor Micalchyshyn, spoke out in a new statement, that will certainly turn some heads.
This is a very complex issue that could set a huge precedent. If the HHOF were to rescind Datsyuk's induction, it would open up a whole can of worms. Whether or not the Hall of Fame wants that kind of attention, remains to be seen. What we do know, however, is that UCC will not be backing off of their standpoint, anytime soon.
