Leon Draisaitl is currently negotiating a contract extension with the Edmonton Oilers, and as you can imagine, there is quite a bit of anxiety around this.
Some believe he could get upwards of $14.5 million per year, which would decimate the Oilers and their cap space. However, according to Frank Seravalli and Bob Stauffer on Oilers Now, there is actually a very positive update in regard to Draisaitl's contract.
Seravalli is saying that the contract is actually done, and could very well be announced any day now. He even says that both sides have stopped negotiating and have agreed on the terms of an extension.

Moreover, he will also be getting max term, which means it is an eight-year extension. Draisaitl and Conor McDavid are looking to give the Oilers team-friendly deals as they know it will help the franchise maximize the roster for future Stanley Cup runs.
A deal has yet to be announced, and the finer details are probably still being worked out. Having said that, this does appear to be a positive update that will help Oilers fans sleep easier at night.
