Last week, the St. Louis Blues left the Edmonton Oilers in a horrible situation after they hit Philp Broberg and Dylan Holloway with offer sheets.
According to reports, it has been stated that the Oilers will let Broberg walk, but they will be matching the deal sent in Holloway's direction. Amidst all of this, they are now exploring trades. For instance, players like Cody Ceci and Brett Kulak are reportedly being shopped around. Whether or not a team bites, remains to be seen.
Patrick Johnston of The Province made an interesting observation regarding the Vancouver Canucks. In his report, Johnston noted the Canucks would be a great trading partner for the Oilers. Instead of receiving draft capital from Vancouver, they could take on an aging Tucker Poolman.
Of course, Poolman suffers from migraines and has not played hockey since January of 2023. By acquiring Poolman, the Oilers could put him on long-term injured reserve, and free up the cap space. Unfortunately for the Oilers, this trade would not address their main needs, which is draft capital. Although, it would at least give them some cap space in which to maneuver with.
