Philip Broberg & Dylan Holloway offer sheets were the result of failed Pavel Buchnevic trade
Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway were recently given offer sheets by the St. Louis Blues, and of course, this has put the Edmonton Oilers in a terrible spot.
However, it appears as though this was all the fault of Ken Holland, who could have made a trade that would have brought 60-point-getter Pavel Buchnevic to the franchise. As Elliotte Friedman reports, the Blues were offering Buchnevic in a deal that would have sent Holloway and Broberg to St. Louis. It all fell through, and now, the Blues are exacting their revenge by giving out offer sheets.
Interestingly enough, the Oilers intend to match the offer that was sent to Holloway. However, it would appear as though they want Broberg to walk. Based on Friedman's reporting, it would seem as though Broberg has wanted out of Edmonton for a while now, so this really should not come as a surprise to anyone.
Regardless, this is not a great situation for the Oilers. Hindsight being 20/20, they probably should have pulled the trigger on that deal.
