Brad Marchand Joins Mario Lemieux as Holder of Incredible NHL Record

Game 5 of these Stanley Cup Finals will be pivotal to whichever team hoists Lord Stanley in a few days time, and to get the scoring started, Florida Panthers veteran Brad Marchand showed off his silky skills to get the team up 1-0 early in the game.

It was another incredible play from Marchand that potentially has him in the Conn Smythe race for the Florida Panthers, as his tally is now up to 9 goals and 19 points in his 22nd game of these playoffs, with his team just two wins away from going back-to-back.

On top of that, Marchand has made more NHL history, as this goal now ties him with Mario Lemieux as the only two players in the history of the National Hockey League to tally at least five goals in two separate Stanley Cup Finals, doing so in the 2011 win over the Vancouver Canucks as well.

This series currently going is far from over as well, with the series locked at 2-2 in the first period of Game 5, with Marchand having plenty of time to tally even more goals for this offensive juggernaut.

It hasn't been all Marchand in the Finals though, as Sam Bennett has also been thriving alongside him, and if the Panthers were to claim glory, it would be tough to split the Conn Smythe between the two.

For now though, we should appreciate the 36-year old Marchand as he is playing at an incredibly high level, and with his career winding down, he's once again showing on the big stage why he's one of the biggest stars of the league in this generation.
