The Kings made a big move when they brought in Pierre-Luc Dubois, aiming to elevate their status to Stanley Cup contenders. Unfortunately, things haven't panned out, and the team finds itself entangled in off-ice drama.

In response to the season's disappointing start, head coach Todd McLellan was officially let go. The Kings released a statement on the decision:
«The LA Kings have relieved Todd McLellan of his duties and named Jim Hiller interim Head Coach for the remainder of the season.

He has done a tremendous job in moving us forward and making a positive impact on our group and in our community. This was not an easy decision, but we felt the change was necessary at this time. Jim is a well-respected member of our staff who is familiar with our players.

We are confident in his ability to lead our team effectively during this pivotal time. - Rob Blake, VP and General Manager»

Although currently holding a wild card position, the Kings are just two points ahead of several teams. The decision to shake things up reflects an effort by Los Angeles to salvage their season.
With a coaching record of 164-130-44 in five seasons with the Kings, McLellan couldn't guide the team past the first round. The move signals a fresh start for the Kings as they strive for a better outcome.
