Marc-Andre Fleury's NHL career has come to an end, but after comments from his agent Allan Walsh, the door hasn't been completely closed on a return as the buzz continues around the veteran star.
When the Minnesota Wild were eliminated from the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs by the Vegas Golden Knights, it marked the end of one of the NHL's greatest ever goaltenders.
Marc-Andre Fleury revealed before the season began that this would be the final year of his career, but after that playoff disappointment, he made the surprise move to join Team Canada at the 2025 IIHF World Championship.
In that tournament, he posted some fantastic numbers, numbers that may suggest he's not quite done at the NHL level, and in a recent interview, Walsh uttered three words that has the NHL world buzzing about a potential return.
The buzz around a potential return began during the World Championship, and while Fleury shut that talk down, his agent wouldn't be saying things like this if there wasn't a possibility that a return could end up happening.
In what was his 'final' NHL season with the Minnesota Wild, Fleury posted a 2.93 GAA and an .899 save percentage through 26 games played, and while those aren't the numbers of someone in their prime, he could certainly be a good veteran option for a team in 2025/26.
Ultimately, it's more likely than not that Fleury's career in the NHL is over, but for Walsh to make this comment now, it's very intriguing, so this is definitely a story to keep an eye on in the coming months as Fleury could potentially be eyeing another season in the NHL.
