Over the past couple of years, Askarov has mostly played for the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL, where he has posted some formidable statistics. He has a total of nine shutouts with the team and has posted save percentages of 0.911 in back-to-back seasons.
However, there have been numerous trade rumors concerning Askarov as he believes he deserves a shot at playing NHL hockey. According to Kevin Weekes, Askarov has officially made those feelings known. The goalie has told the team he is not reporting to the AHL, and he officially wants to be traded.
This is massive news that could completely shake up the offseason. There are a few teams that Askarov has been linked to, including the Montreal Canadiens. Having said that, it will be up to the Nashville Predators to get the best return possible. After all, Askarov was an 11th overall pick, and he has a lot of untapped potential. Only time will tell what the Predators can do here as training camp quickly approaches.
