The New York Rangers have made a decision regarding a long-serving member of the NHL.

As reported by TSN's Chris Johnston, the Rangers have placed forward Nick Bonino on unconditional waivers with the intention of terminating his contract.

"The #NYR have placed Nick Bonino on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination."

Bonino, 35, has had a lengthy career spanning 15 years in the NHL, playing in 868 games. During his time with the New York Rangers, he recorded five points (one goal, four assists), eight penalty minutes, and a minus-12 rating in 45 games.

Recently, the Rangers placed Bonino on regular waivers, which he cleared. He was subsequently assigned to the American Hockey League's Hartford Wolf Pack but did not see any game time with them.
