Marc Staal announces retirement and reveals new career path
Marc Staal has played 17 years in the NHL, with most of them coming with the legendary New York Rangers.
Today, Staal revealed that he would be retiring from the NHL. The brother of Jordan and Eric Staal has decided now is the time to quit playing the sport that has consumed his life for decades.
However, he is not leaving the sport for good. According to reports, Staal will be joining the New York Rangers as a player development assistant. Many former player work in front offices, so this should not came as very much of a surprise.
Staal finished his career with 1136 games played and 234 points. He was a stud for many years with the New York Rangers. However, his final season was a disappointing one with the Philadelphia Flyers. Needless to say, now is probably the best time to hang up the skates. We wish him luck in his new endeavor.
