Penguins' Top Rivals Kick Off NHL Trade Season With One-For-One Deal

The Pittsburgh Penguins divisional foe Philadelphia Flyers have made the 1st trade of the new NHL season with a 1-for-1 deal with the Seattle Kraken.
The 1st trade of the NHL year has already been executed between the top divisional foe of the Pittsburgh Penguins, as the Philadelphia Flyers have pulled a move with the Seattle Kraken.
Flyers Acquire Tucker Robertson in Early-Season Move
The trade was a 1-for-1, as the Flyers acquired Tucker Robertson from the Kraken and sent Jon-Randall Avon back to the Kraken in return.

Robertson was taken with the 123rd overall pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft by the Kraken, but has mostly played in the AHL.
His scouting report from Elite Prospects reads as follows:
We came to appreciate his anticipation-based defensive game along with his ability to place himself and his stick in the right position at the right time to intercept passes and turn them into offensive chances.
Last year with the Coachella Valley Firebirds, he had 9 points (4G, 5A) in 38 games. He has yet to appear in an NHL game.
What Pittsburgh's Division Foes Gain from the First Trade of 2025
This trade by the Flyers doesn't exactly move the meter in terms of a major acquisition, but provides them with another depth piece to play in the AHL and who would be available for a call-up in case of injury.
Robertson did have a scoring touch at a lower level, scoring 41 goals with the OHL's Peterborough Petes in 2021-22.
