Evgeni Malkin got left off the CHL Top 50 again, and Pittsburgh Penguins fans are done pretending it is no big deal.
On Tuesday, the Canadian Hockey League unveiled its Top 50 Players of the Last 50 Years as part of #CHL50.
The list is alphabetical for now, with a fan vote running from Tuesday through March 10 to shape the final 1 to 50 ranking.
It includes Sidney Crosby, plus plenty of names Penguins fans know by heart, like Paul Coffey, Ron Francis, Jarome Iginla, and Marc-Andre Fleury.
Malkin is not on it, despite being a major junior alum and a franchise pillar whose peak changed playoff series on his own.
Seth Rorabaugh summed up the mood with a simple “snubbed AGAIN” post.

The CHL’s own hype post made it feel even louder, because it is framed as the most “influential and accomplished” alumni of the era.

Evgeni Malkin still drives the Pittsburgh Penguins
Penguins fans have this one in their teeth, because it keeps happening any time legacy lists get trendy.
If you want a present-day reminder, Malkin sits at 13-31-44 in 2025-26 as of Tuesday.
The Penguins are 29-15-12, and they are not banking those points without his top-six creation and man advantage touch.
His game has never been about polite, safe hockey, it is about forcing defenders to turn and panic.
That should matter in a CHL exercise that says it weighs impact, awards, championships, and era-defining influence.
If the ballot is still open, Penguins fans have a clear assignment: make noise, vote, and keep receipts for the final reveal this spring.
