Arturs Silovs grabbed Team Latvia’s Olympic win, and Pittsburgh Penguins fans instantly dragged his old “no expectations” line back into the spotlight.

Latvia beat Germany 4-3 on Saturday, with Silovs turning aside 26 shots.
That matters because Latvia hadn’t won an Olympic men’s hockey game since 2014.
It also matters because Germany brought real firepower, and Silovs still looked calm between the pipes.
The save that stuck with me was the breakaway stop on Leon Draisaitl in the second period.
The Penguins social post called it “The Arty Party,” and yeah, that tracks.
Silovs is 24, drafted in 2019 in the sixth round by the Vancouver Canucks, and he’s already built a habit of showing up when the lights get bright.
His quote from earlier this week is the one resurfacing everywhere: Latvia has “no expectations,” so it’s on them to “prove everyone wrong.”

Arturs Silovs gives Team Latvia the Penguins blueprint

Penguins fans feel that mix of pride and nerves, because this is exactly the goalie energy Pittsburgh has been begging for.
Tactically, Latvia played a tight, detail-heavy game and let Silovs win the moments that swing a one-goal night.
That’s the same recipe the Penguins lean on when the blue line gets scrambled and the game turns into survival shifts.
Silovs also talked about loving those high-stakes starts, where the team relies on him.
Now he gets Denmark on Sunday, and Latvia suddenly has real momentum to carry into the bracket.
If you’re the Penguins, you watch this and think, “Bring that swagger back to the NHL stretch run.”
