Connor McDavid opens up about opportunity to play alongside childhood idol Sidney Crosby at the Olympic Games

Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid is looking forward to playing alongside his childhood idol, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, for Team Canada in the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan.
Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby and Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid were both chosen to represent Team Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics, to nobody's surprise.
They were easily two of the most expected names to be included on Canada's roster, along with players like Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar.
McDavid, who just lost 6-2 to Crosby and the Penguins last night, said that he was looking forward to playing with Crosby, who he called his childhood idol.
It's nice to answer questions about playing together as opposed to always playing against him. With it being the Olympics, the biggest sporting event in the world, and to be able to represent our country and be on a bigger level than just our sport, and to be part of Team Canada as a whole, it's special. [Crosby] was my idol growing up. So, to be able to play with him and represent our country together on the biggest stage, it's exciting. - Connor McDavid
The Olympics will start on February 4, and both Crosby and McDavid will hope to help Canada defend their gold medal wins of 2010 and 2014.
The Feeling Is Mutual For Sidney Crosby
Crosby, who scored the golden goal for Canada in the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, is also looking forward to playing alongside McDavid as opposed to against him.
It's going to be a lot better than playing against him. He's so dangerous for so many different reasons, and I had a great time playing with him at 4 Nations. I think everyone is excited to finally be back at the Olympics, and I'm looking forward to the opportunity. - Sidney Crosby
Fans do not have to wait long to see this duo take the ice together as the Olympic Games will kick off in less than a month from now.
