Mike Lange's family made a statement thanking the Penguins organization and their fans after all the support came out following his passing.
Last week, the Pittsburgh Penguins had an unfortunate tragedy within the organization.
Former play-by-play announcer Mike Lange, who called games on TV for 30 years and worked on the radio side for many more afterwards, passed away at the age of 76.
Lange was an iconic part of the franchise for decades, and the outpouring of support that came out following his passing proves it.
Today, the Lange family responded to all of this support with a heartwarming statement of their own, thanking the organization and their fans for all the love.
They also reminded everyone that Lange loved the city and the team's fans more than anything else.
"The family of Mike Lange would like to extend our sincerest thank you to the Penguins organization, coaches, and players. We'd also like to recognize all the broadcast partners and production teams that helped make every game so special over the years!
And we especially want to thank all the fans for all of their love and support. Mike loved the fans and the city of Pittsburgh more than anything. Without you, none of this would have been possible."
Hopefully the Penguins will be able to turn things around on the ice in the coming years and eventually will win another Stanley Cup in honor of the former announcer.
After all, he must be looking down on the team right now, cheering them on as they enter the next era of Penguins hockey.
