Fans Outraged After Controversial Overturned Goal Goes Against the Penguins
Tonight fans are irate with the referees after a missed call goes against Dan Muse and the Pittsburgh Penguins in their game against the Minnesota Wild.
The Pittsburgh Penguins headed to Minnesota tonight as they look to continue their strong start to the season against the Minnesota Wild.
Early in the game, Evgeni Malkin appeared to score a goal against goaltender Filip Gustavsson.
However, the referees did not call the play a goal instead saying that Brazeau interfered with Gustavsson leading to a penalty.
Immediately, Dan Muse and the Penguins challenged the play to try and get the goal to count.
After a brief review the play was upheld with no goal being awarded to the Penguins.
In response to the call, the Penguins fans have taken to X to share their absolute outrage toward the referees.
Fans Outraged After Questionable Goalie Interference Call
In the minutes following the call from the referees fans and media members took to social media to call out the crew for getting the call wrong.
Many believe that Brazeau was clearly pushed into the goaltender by defenseman Keaton Middleton.
The goal from Malkin would have continued his renaissance season putting him near the top of the league in every category but unfortunately the Penguins lost all momentum instead.
The no goal call from the referees ended up shifting the momentum immensely leading to a goal from star winger Kirill Kaprizov.
After the game, it will be interesting to hear head coach Dan Muse's thoughts on how the entire situation was handled.
