Jaromir Jagr is now 53, but after rumours of retirement emerged this off-season, the former Penguins superstar has laced up the skates in Europe once more.
Since way back in 1988, Jaromir Jagr has played professional hockey at the highest level, and even after his 19 year career in the National Hockey League came to an end, that hasn't stopped him playing professionally.
Since his final games in the league with the Calgary Flames, Jagr has played in eight seasons with the Kladno Knights of the Czech Extraliga, an organization that he also happens to own, getting them back to the top level in Czechia after being demoted before his return.
Jagr to play on at age 53
Despite being 53-years of age, Jagr has now declared he will officially play on in 2025/26, even after speculation over the summer surrounded his potential retirement and move into a coaching or full-time ownership role.
He confirmed this during the week as he
played in the Knights season opener, as he will once more continue to play on as he continues what is one of the most incredible careers in hockey history.
This will be his ninth season with the Kladno Knights after helping them get back to the top flight hockey league in Czechia, and while he'll turn 54 this season, he's shown no signs of hanging up the skates yet.
Last season, the Penguins legend posted 5 goals and 16 points in 39 games played, so while he's not the player that he once was, he can still contribute at the professional level, and as of right now, there's been no true indication as to when he will officially retire.
