That means that the team are likely to sell on Bryan Rust, Rickard Rakell and Erik Karlsson, and while that means they'll be getting solid future assets back in return, it doesn't bode well for their hopes in 2025/26, which is likely to be Malkin's final season with the team.

For those loyal fans, it's going to hurt for now seeing the team failing to get better in the summer, but for the future this is definitely worth it, as they are likely to stockpile draft picks that can help them build a winner for the future, and in an off-season where all other 31 teams are hoping to improve their rosters, it's safe to say that they can take advantage of that this summer.
