Fresh Penguins Injury Updates Emerge on Kevin Hayes, Rutger McGroarty and Joel Blomqvist
Kevin Hayes has also been out with an upper-body injury and was not available to start the season.
And in terms of Joel Blomqvist, he was expected to be out for a minimum of four weeks with a lower-body injury, which occurred during the last week of September. He was originally day-to-day with the injury, but things progressed, and it got worse.
Today, head coach Dan Muse provided an update on all three players, and it appears that there is no progress yet on any of those three injuries, which is definitely frustrating for Penguins fans to hear.
Patience is going to be key in terms of seeing Rutger McGroarty back on the ice
"It's going to be a little more of an indefinite timeline because of his age and the potential he has," Dubas said. "Just have to be very patient with Rutger on that one."
The 21-year-old spent the majority of last season in the AHL with the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins, where he scored 14 goals and registered 39 points in a total of 60 games.
He played eight games with the big club as well, where he showed flashes of brilliance with a goal and an assist.
McGroarty, who was initially drafted by the Winnipeg Jets with the 14th overall pick in 2022, was traded to the Penguins in a one-for-one deal for
Brayden Yager last off-season after indicating he wouldn't sign long-term in Winnipeg.
Fans are hoping that the next time Muse has updates, it's a lot more positive, with an actual return date for these players.
