Kyle Dubas gives his opinion on goaltender Tristan Jarry amidst trade rumors
Tristan Jarry's name has been red-hot in trade speculation as of late, and now, Kyle Dubas has commented on his veteran goaltender.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are off to a surprisingly hot start this season, and while there's been many positives for this team, it's hard to ignore the bounce back campaign put together thus far by veteran goaltender Tristan Jarry.
Early in the season, Jarry has posted a 2.57 GAA and a .911 save percentage, and while the Penguins are surging, the expectation is that they may look to use this hot start to cash in and move Jarry.
Kyle Dubas full of praise for veteran Tristan Jarry
Apparently, that trade speculation is something that has reached the ears of General Manager Kyle Dubas as well, as he was recently all praise for Jarry after revealing how much he's heard his name in recent times.
Goaltending in my time here has been a big topic. Tristan has been a big topic. In every media session, it comes up. My viewpoint is that it's not always linear in terms of progression with goalies. Sometimes it goes up and down. There are lots of examples where guys have their struggles, and they steady themselves and push their way back. I don't think you can be anything but happy for Tristan and proud of him the way he's handled everything.
Clearly, Dubas is proud of Jarry for putting 2024/25 in his rear view mirror, but given how much talk has been around the 30-year old, there's a chance that Pittsburgh could move him in the near future.
Ultimately, it would benefit the Penguins given their wealth of goaltending talent if they were to get an asset or two in return for Jarry, but given how glowingly Dubas has spoken of the veteran, there's a chance they keep him for a potential Stanley Cup Playoffs push.
