Macklin Celebrini Comments on Playing With His Idol Sidney Crosby for Team Canada
Macklin Celebrini will line up with Sidney Crosby at the 2025 IIHF World Championship, and the 18-year old has now opened up on playing with his idol.
The 2025 IIHF World Championships are upon us, and with so many battles to look forward too and many 2026 Olympic implications for every competing nation, it should be a very fun tournament.
However, it's Team Canada that's got the most interesting and likely the best lineup at the tournament, and with the inclusion of Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon, they're a heavy favourite to take out another gold medal.
Not only that, but Crosby will be a perfect mentor for some of the younger players on the roster, with 18-year old Macklin Celebrini the obvious benefactor of Crosby's presence, and after practicing with Crosby, the 2024 No. 1 overall pick has opened up on playing with his idol.

Given Crosby's success and his longevity in the NHL, this is a sentiment that has been expressed many times in the past two decades by other players, and at 37-years old, he brings a wealth of experience that players like Celebrini, who wasn't born when Crosby made his NHL debut will gravitate towards.
Celebrini isn't just there to learn however, as he's a genuine star in his own right already, and with both expected to be major contributors at this tournament, this is the San Jose Sharks young stars opportunity to push for an Olympics spot, and impressing Crosby could go a long way to a spot on that Team Canada squad.
