The Pittsburgh Penguins season has gone from bad to worse as of late, and now Mike Sullivan has given an update on two players following a dreadful loss that now sees them all but eliminated from Stanley Cup Playoff contention in 2024/25.
Unfortunately they're also dealing with plenty of injury issues, with Head Coach Mike Sullivan giving two major updates on players at practice on Wednesday.
The first was involving Boko Imama, who is currently on Injured Reserve with an upper-body injury, but according to Sullivan, he was a full contact practice today, which is a great sign for his return moving forward.
The 28-year old winger is scoreless in six games played with the team this year, so while he's not a major part of the lineup, he's shown some potential with Pittsburgh, and if he gets fully healthy, he could get a good shot down the stretch here.
The other update however wasn't as positive, as Sullivan revealed that veteran forward
Michael Bunting wasn't at practice due to illness, and while it's not clear if he could miss their next game or not, it's always unfortunate for illness to keep a player out of practice.
With the final stretch of the season upcoming, all the Penguins can do is restore pride with some big wins late in the year as they are firmly out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs race, and with the trade deadline just days away, there could be some very intriguing moves coming from GM Kyle Dubas.
