Mike Sullivan Finally Speaks Out After Shocking Penguins Exit

The New York Rangers pounced swiftly on Mike Sullivan after he was fired by the Pittsburgh Penguins, and after the club moved on from Peter Laviolette following a disappointing season, they quickly named Sullivan their newest Head Coach.

This is arguably the best hire that could be made this summer, as Sullivan brings two Stanley Cup winning seasons and 10 years of experience to New York, and with a very talented lineup there, the optimism is once again high as they look to push for their first Cup since 1994.

There's been very little said from Sullivan about his departure from the Penguins after 10 incredibly successful years, but in his first press conference with the team's division rival, he addressed the situation directly.

Unfortunately for Penguins fans that potentially wanted to know any details on the situation, Sullivan didn't reveal any or even open up on the situation, but instead, he expressed his gratitude to the organization and especially the players following his tenure in Pittsburgh.

On top of that, he stated that his 10 years in Pittsburgh should put him in good stead for success in New York, and now that he is the highest paid coach in the NHL, he will need to stand up and help this veteran team get back into the Stanley Cup Playoffs after a disappointing 2024/25 campaign.

Ultimately, it makes sense that Sullivan wouldn't expose any details about the situation, as it doesn't help the Penguins or the new Rangers Head Coach, but instead, he showed class towards Pittsburgh until the very end, and now, both parties have completely moved on with new opportunities looming for both.
