Tonight, a new stat provided by the Pittsburgh Penguins has proven that Kyle Dubas has been the best General Manager in the NHL this season.
The Pittsburgh Penguins remain in a playoff spot down the stretch of the regular season despite playing five games without Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby.
The Penguins success has been led by some unlikely candidates including newly arrived players such as Justin Brazeau and Ben Kindel who are in their first year with the team.
Now, a new stat provided by the Penguins has shown that Kyle Dubas brought in more production than any other GM this past summer.
New stat proves Kyle Dubas has been the best GM in the NHL
In a new post on X the Penguins confirmed that this season 81 goals have been scored by new players brought in by Kyle Dubas.
That 81 goals scored by new arrivals outpaces every other NHL team by 18 goals.
Pittsburgh has 81 goals by players in their first season with the team - a mark that ranks first in the NHL by an 18-goal margin.
Heading into this season, some thought Dubas was already on the hot seat after his first season in Pittsburgh was a disappointment.
Add in his polarizing reputation from his time with the Toronto Maple Leafs many doubted Dubas could build a winning team.
Now, with less than 20 games left in the season the Penguins are playing good hockey and are in a Stanley Cup Playoff spot.
As awards season roles around it will be fun to see if Dubas gets any consideration for General Manager of the Year.
