NHL insider gives an update on Erik Karlsson's future in Pittsburgh

Tonight, a new report from Josh Yohe has provided new details on Erik Karlsson's future with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Heading into this season, Erik Karlsson was a trade candidate after struggling to begin his Penguins tenure.
This season, Karlsson has exploded and turned around his game with already 52 points in 63 games a number he barely reached over a full season last year.
Despite his resurgence, Karlsson's future in Pittsburgh remains uncertain with many suggesting the Penguins could trade Karlsson while his value is high.
Now, NHL reporter Josh Yohe has provided insight on the situation.
NHL analyst clears the air on Erik Karlsson's future with the Penguins
During a recent discussion, Yohe admitted that the Penguins are committed to keeping Karlsson on the team.
He even believes an extension is more likely than a trade at this point between Kyle Dubas and Karlsson.
Though anything is possible, I don't believe [a trade] will happen. If anything, I think it's more likely the Penguins offer him a couple more years.
At 35, it remains unclear how long Karlsson intends to keep playing but signing him to an extension likely would be a big risk for Dubas and the Penguins.
If the Penguins run it back and re-sign Evgeni Malkin then a Karlsson extension becomes more likely to keep the band together.
It'll all come down to Kyle Dubas and the front office gauging how long Karlsson can hang on to the incredible peaks of his play without losing a step.
