The Pittsburgh Penguins are bracing for a huge summer, and now, it appears as though they're preparing to potentially move veteran Tristan Jarry.
After another disappointing season, the Pittsburgh Penguins head into the off-season with some major decisions to make, and with General Manager Kyle Dubas set to re-tool this squad around
Sidney Crosby, there's some major moves that they can make.
One of those involve potentially moving Tristan Jarry, a veteran that struggled throughout much of the 2024/25 season, being waived and sent back to the AHL despite his history in Pittsburgh.
According to Josh Yohe, the team is ready to listen to offers on him, and while it will likely mean Pittsburgh either retaining cash or attaching a draft pick to him to make it happen, there's definitely interest for the Penguins to move him.
«The Penguins will entertain trade offers this summer. If a team is willing to take on Jarry's contract, of course Dubas would listen.»
While he's been much stronger down the stretch, the Penguins can't trust that after a season of struggles, and for the future of the organization, moving him now makes the most sense, but if he remains beyond 2024/25 and continues this level of play, it makes a trade that much more valuable for the team.
In 2025/26, the future may arrive in Pittsburgh, with 21-year old Sergei Murashov arriving at the AHL level this year, tallying a 2.64 GAA and a .913 save percentage through 16 games, and while the talent gap between the leagues is huge, Murashov has seemingly convinced many that he's the future.
Ultimately, given the long-term deal Jarry signed, if the Penguins can convince a team to take his whole contract by attaching one of many picks to him, it may be the best move for them long-term, so if there's interest this summer, don't be shocked to see him moved.
