Kris Letang's future has come into question after a recent surgery, but according to Sidney Crosby, the star defenseman isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
While this has many worried about his future in the NHL, Sidney Crosby isn't one of those people, as the Penguins captain addressed the situation involving Letang on Wednesday.
I think he wants to play until he's 50.
Given the shape that Letang has been in over his long NHL career with the Penguins, absolutely no one should doubt that Letang could do that, but with this recent surgery, the future for the star defenseman has come into doubt.
According to reports, the recovery time from this surgery is 4-6 weeks, and with the Penguins not set to take the ice again until the pre-season in around 4-5 months, if he wants to continue playing, he'll have more than enough time to recover.
At the age of 37, Letang has been a staple of this Penguins team since way back in 2008, and with a few years still remaining on his current deal, the veteran appears set on continuing his career in Pittsburgh for many years to come yet.
In 2024/25, he posted 9 goals and 30 points in 74 games played, and while the Penguins struggled as a team, the veteran is still more than serviceable on the blue line, and with Crosby addressing his future, it appears we may see him in the NHL for quite some time to come.
