Kiefer Sherwood is a hot name on the NHL's trade market, and according to reports, the Blue Jackets are very interested in acquiring him.
The Columbus Blue Jackets put together a very promising season in 2024/25, so much so that the team believe in this core group as one that could potentially take them back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
With a 12-9-5 record, they're right in the fight through their first 26 games played, as they are just five points out of first place in the Metropolitan Division, despite sitting in last place in the division.
Columbus one of many teams looking to land Kiefer Sherwood
Given that they've got young stars like Zack Werenski and Adam Fantilli leading the charge, this is a team that wants to build around that, and now
recent reports reveal that they could be targeting hard-nosed winger Kiefer Sherwood from the Vancouver Canucks.
The Blue Jackets are among the clubs that have spoken to the Vancouver Canucks about trade scenarios, including a trade that could bring forward Kiefer Sherwood home to Columbus.
That comes from The Athletic's
Aaron Portzline, who states that this team are hoping to contend for a post-season spot this year, making the acquisition of Sherwood a no-brainer for them.
Given the interest in Sherwood, that will be much, much easier said than done, but with the Blue Jackets having a core they believe in, adding to that would make this team much harder to play against, and if they remain in the hunt, don't be surprised to see them as the most aggressive team in pursuit of Sherwood.
