The Penguins have placed former first-round pick Philip Tomasino on waivers today, as the Flyers have also waived defenseman Max Guenette after acquiring him.
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Pittsburgh Penguins have placed forward Philip Tomasino, a former first-round draft pick, on waivers today. The Flyers also waived defenseman Max Guenette after acquiring him from the Senators.

That wasn't the only news today regarding waivers, as the Calgary Flames have claimed John Beecher off of waivers from the Bruins.
Tomasino has struggled this season, notching just one assist in nine appearances while averaging 12:10 of ice time, with zero goals to show for.
Why Philip Tomasino could attract heavy interest while on waivers
Still, the 24-year-old forward notched 11 goals and 12 assists in 50 regular-season games with the Penguins last year and could draw some interest on the waiver wire, especially considering how young he is.
Potentially moving Tomasino to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton could be an indication that one of the Pens' injured forwards is ready to return, or it could be a sign somebody else will be coming up from the minors, but he needs to go unclaimed first.
Turning our attention over to Guenette, he was just traded by the Senators to the Flyers yesterday as part of the deal that saw Dennis Gilbert head to the Nation's Capital.
The Flyers immediately signed Guenette after the trade and have plans to send him to the AHL, but he will need to clear waivers first.
