Today, the Penguins made a major announcement involving Spezza. While he will remain AGM of the Penguins, he is now the full-time General Manager of the team's AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. This is a huge promotion given the fact that he was working under Kyle Dubas in Toronto just a couple of years ago.
Meanwhile, Amanda Kessel has also found a new role with the Penguins organization. She has been made manager of minor league operations and assistant GM of the WBS Penguins. This means she will get to work alongside Spezza on building out the team's minor league development program.
This is a great opportunity for Spezza has he becomes an emerging star in the front-office world. Overall, this could be a great jumping-off point for him to become an NHL General Manager in the future. Only time will tell whether or not his appointment leads to success for WBS.
