During his time in Wheeling, the 20-year-old goaltender went 17-7-1, best symbolized by a record-breaking 13-game winning streak from Nov. 6 through Jan. 8.
Murashov broke two ECHL records for longest winning streaks
The streak set marks for the longest in the history of any goalie for the Nailers and the longest ever by an ECHL rookie goaltender. Overall, Murashov had a 2.40 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage in the ECHL.
Before making the jump to North America, Murashov was the top goaltender in Russian junior hockey. In four years in the MHL, he tallied a 73-30-12 record with a 2.04 goals-against average, a .934 save percentage, and 22 shutouts.
He also appeared in seven KHL games for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, going 4-1-2 with a lone shutout.
The Penguins take to the ice again tonight, Tuesday, March 4, against the Belleville Senators. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. at Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza.
The future looks bright in goal for the NHL Penguins, as Murashov along with
Joel Blomqvist appear to be the goalies of the future in a solid 1-2 tandem one day.
