Pittsburgh Penguins share an update on Evgeni Malkin's health after missing today's practice

The 2025/26 season has been a surprising one thus far for the Pittsburgh Penguins, with the team going 14-7-5 through their first 26 games as they find themselves right in the thick of the Stanley Cup Playoffs race in the Eastern Conference.

That success has come from many places, with the goaltending bouncing back after a poor 2024/25 season, as well as several rookies standing up and making a good first impression at the NHL level.

However, most of the success is led by their veterans Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, with the two combining for 58 points as they show that even approaching 40-years of age, both are still capable of getting it done at a high level.

Neither have missed a game early in the 2025/26 season, but on Saturday, Malkin missed a team practice, leading some to believe that he could miss the team's Sunday night clash with the Dallas Stars.

Thankfully, Josh Yohe of The Athletic has now confirmed it was simply a day off for Malkin, and after some recent heroics, he's set to take the ice against Dallas on Sunday.

While nobody expected the Penguins to be in contention for a post-season spot this year, it's hard to argue just how good they've been thus far, and with the duo of Crosby and Malkin still leading the way and staying healthy, it's safe to say that this team isn't one that should be taken lightly moving forward.
