Sidney Crosby's injury timeline just got messy, and Penguins fans are clinging to that tiny sliver of hope.

Pittsburgh publicly pegged him as out at least four weeks with a lower-body injury after the Olympics.
That "at least" matters, and so does the calendar.
Crosby got hurt Feb. 18 in Canada's Olympic quarterfinal against Czechia.
Four weeks from the injury date lands around March 18, not four weeks from today.
That lines up with the clarification in the X post saying the minimum was tied to the moment he got hurt, not when the Penguins announced it.
The gray area is the weird part: he reportedly pushed to be ready for the gold medal game, which can interrupt a "normal" rehab cadence.
He missed the semifinal and was close, but didn't play in Canada's gold medal game loss to the United States.
Here's the add-value piece: timelines aren't just tissue healing, they're also workload ramps.
If Sid had to pause or shortcut the usual ramp to chase one game, the back end of the rehab can look different, either faster or bumpier.

Sidney Crosby return talk hangs over the Pittsburgh Penguins

Honestly, the fan mood feels split right now: hope for March, dread of a rushed comeback.
The Penguins are 29-15-12, and every point is oxygen in a tight Metro race.
Replacing Crosby isn't one job, it's three: clean exits, controlled entries, and power-play calm.
Before the break he carried 27-32-59 in 56 games, so the offense has to be committee-based for a while.
Roster-wise, if he truly hits a month, the team can at least explore LTIR mechanics, but that's paperwork, not a cure.
The real goal is simple: get him back for the stretch drive as soon as possible.
