Sidney Crosby has been one of the greats in the NHL for years now, and he's now on the verge of passing Wayne Gretzky for yet another milestone in league history.

The Pittsburgh Penguins may find themselves too far out of the Wild Card race in the Eastern Conference to chase down a playoff spot in 2024/25, but with their recent play, they've given fans plenty of hope.
One thing that will always give these fans optimism is Sidney Crosby, who continues to play at an elite level as he approaches 40-years of age, and now, he's on the verge of passing another of The Great One's records.
With another two points in the teams latest game, Crosby has now tallied 76 points on the season, and when he reaches a point-per-game total, which should almost certainly happen this season, he'd pass another milestone set by Wayne Gretzky.
«Sidney Crosby was the game's dominant player, scoring his 25th goal of the season and adding an assist, bringing him within four points of registering a 20th straight season of a point per game or better, which would top Wayne Gretzky's record.»

While unsurprisingly and deservedly, all of the attention is on Alex Ovechkin's chase for the top goal scoring spot in NHL history, Crosby has quietly passed several records set by 99 in recent times, as he recently passed Gretzky to become No. 4 on the all-time points scored list with a single team.
At this point, there's no way to describe how great Crosby has been over his incredible Pittsburgh Penguins career, and while the team success has gone down a little in recent years, this is still one of the NHL's all time greatest players, and the more records he passes, the more he solidifies himself among the games greats.
