Sullivan Opens Up About Dubas' Plan to Revive Penguins' Championship Hopes

After their year came to a close with no playoff spot, Penguins coach Mike Sullivan spoke about GM Kyle Dubas' plan to revive their championship hopes.
The Pittsburgh Penguins once again finished their year without claiming a playoff spot, marking 3 consecutive years; it's also the longest drought of captain Sidney Crosby's career.
During their recent locker room cleanout day at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex, Penguins coach Mike Sullivan expressed his belief that general manager Kyle Dubas will be working this summer to get the club back into championship contension.
Mike Sullivan said they feel like Kyle Dubas has put a plan in place to try to return the Penguins back to contention as soon as possible. They would like to get there, in particular, with Sidney Crosby still playing at an elite level.
Sullivan then said that he thinks that Pittsburgh is poised to take the next step.
We have the makings of being a competitive team. The team is postured right now to take that next step.
As far as what Sullivan had to say about his future with the Penguins, he made it clear that he has no intention of going anywhere.
My intentions are to be the head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Sullivan has been behind the Penguins bench since he took over from the fired Mike Johnston in 2015; he then led the Penguins to back to back Stanley Cups, but their playoff success has dwindled since then.
He also just wrapped up the 1st of a 3-year contract extension that goes through 2027.
