Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins still smell a playoff lane, and Dave Molinari is circling “gettable points” that could decide everything.

Pittsburgh sits 29-15-12, good for 70 points through 56 games, and that alone tells you they have not folded the tent.
They have banked a lot of points even when the game has been messy, and that matters when the schedule squeezes you in March and April.
Molinari’s idea is simple, the standings do not care how pretty it looked, they care what you grabbed.
The Penguins also have a legit special teams backbone, with a power play clicking at 25.9% and a penalty kill at 84.0%.
Crosby has driven a ton of it, sitting at 27-32-59 in 56 games.
That is the heartbeat of the “stay in it” argument, because one hot stretch from your captain can drag a team across the line.

Sidney Crosby keeps the Pittsburgh Penguins in it

If you’re a Penguins fan, you know the feeling, you want to believe, but you also want proof the soft points will actually get taken.
This is where “gettable” turns into a test of maturity, not talent.
Late-season hockey punishes passengers, especially on the blue line when the forecheck ramps up.
If Pittsburgh can keep games close between the pipes, the man advantage can steal nights that would otherwise slip.
The math is not complicated, win the games you should, and you give yourself permission to split the tougher ones.
If they’re still in the race in the final two weeks, those “gettable points” stop being a phrase and start being the season.
