The San Jose Sharks recently hung a banner in their arena, but the only problem is, it was of a trophy that the organization never won.
The San Jose Sharks have had some lean years in recent times, but it wasn't that long ago that they were a genuine Stanley Cup contender behind the likes of Patrick Marleau, Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski.
They would never go on to win the Stanley Cup, losing in the Finals to the Pittsburgh Penguins in six games back in the 2016 season, and now, they're deep into what could be a very successful rebuild.
San Jose Sharks caught in shocking lie
That season was a successful one for the Sharks, as their star studded roster made it all the way to the Cup Finals, but one thing that they didn't do was win the President's Trophy.
However, despite this they recently raised a banner at their arena claiming they did just that, a move that has them getting flamed on social media after photos of the banner emerged.
Now, the situation
has been addressed by President Jonathan Becher, who said it was simply down to a printing error, with the organization already addressing the situation, as they plan to print the correct one which had them win the trophy back in 2008/09.
Ultimately, this was just a funny mistake that wasn't caught until it was too late and the organization was being made fun of all over social media, but with a strong young core led by
Macklin Celebrini,
Michael Misa and
Will Smith among others, there will perhaps be some more bright moments ahead in San Jose.
