Insider reveals 3 frontrunners for Steven Stamkos during free agency
Steven Stamkos, a stalwart of the Tampa Bay Lightning throughout his career thus far, is poised to explore free agency come July 1st. While this move isn't surprising to many insiders and fans, it's undoubtedly stirring up emotions among faithful Lightning fans.
Insiders Chris Johnston of TSN and Joe Smith of The Athletic recently outlined three potential landing spots for the 34-year-old star. The Florida Panthers, Nashville Predators, and Anaheim Ducks are among the contenders eyeing for Stamkos's services, should he choose to depart from the Lightning.
With Stamkos's impressive performance in the regular season—79 games, 40 goals, 41 assists, totaling 81 points—it's clear he still has plenty to offer, even in the latter stages of his career.
While it might be a strange sight to see Stamkos in a different jersey, signs have pointed to this possibility throughout the season.
All three mentioned teams could benefit from his talents, making the upcoming free agency period one to watch closely as Stamkos explores his options for the 2024-25 NHL season.
