Jon Cooper provides crucial injury update on Mikhail Sergachev
The Tampa Bay Lightning and the Florida Panthers are gearing up for their first round playoff showdown, but there's a setback for the Lightning as Mikhail Sergachev is sidelined with an injury.
Lightning head coach Jon Cooper discussed Sergachev's potential return, saying, it's a lot better than most originally thought.
According to Lightning beat writer Chris Krenn, Cooper expressed optimism about Sergachev's recovery, hinting at a possible return if the Lightning advance past the Panthers.
Jon Cooper said Mikhail Sergachev is progressing, but still not ready to go for the #Bolts.
"My gut says this series would be out of reach for him. If we were fortunate enough to win this series, then we'd start having that discussion."
Sergachev, who hasn't played since February 7th due to a lower body injury requiring surgery, was seen on the ice yesterday, a positive development for Lightning fans. However, it's uncertain if he'll see game time during the playoffs.
Despite challenges, Lightning fans have reason to be hopeful, as the team continues to defy expectations.
