One goaltender in the NHL is going to give up Alex Ovechkin's historic goal, and now Marc-Andre Fleury has revealed his thoughts on whichever unlucky goalie that will be.
Alex Ovechkin's chase for Wayne Gretzky's all-time NHL goal scoring record has been a major story in the league this season, and now, it appears as though the time is drawing near.
With eight games remaining in the regular season, Ovechkin has just four more goals to pass Gretzky, meaning that there's a very good chance it could happen this season.
There's the chance that it doesn't but with the way Ovi has scored this season, it's bound to happen soon, and while some would love to be involved in the historic moment, there's one person that won't be.
That's whoever allows the record setting goal, and when asked about how that person would feel, Marc-Andre Fleury didn't mince words about how much it will hurt.
I'd be pissed in the moment. I'd still be pissed a few days later because then you'll be on TV for the next f***ing many years.
It's hard to deny that this will be one of the biggest moments in NHL history, and after a stellar run as captain of the Washington Capitals and as one of the most likeable players in the league, this is a story that the entire league has gotten behind.
With two games each against the Hurricanes, Islanders and Blue Jackets, there's an increased chance that it comes against one of those teams, and while goaltenders will be hoping it's not them, it will be one of them, and it will be a moment that lives forever in NHL history.
