Legendary enforcer Daniel Amesbury agrees to put on the gloves for pro fight
Beloved enforcer Daniel Amesbury is taking his skills off the rink as he inks a deal for his first-ever professional bout.
Known by his nickname "Diamond Hands," Daniel Amesbury is a well-known enforcer in the sport of hockey. He was the player who signed with the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL after receiving an indefinite suspension from the FPHL last season, if you recall. Other than his antics on the ice, Amesbury is unknown, but it looks like he will showcase his skills off the ice later this summer.
Amesbury claims that on July 12th, he will compete in the Creator Fight League. His opponent in the CFL, an amateur boxing promotion, is Zach Baker.
Amesbury, 33, had 138 penalty minutes in 24 games across 3 different leagues last season, collecting just 2 goals during that stretch.
This will be Amesbury's first fight in a boxing ring and not on skates. He's 6-foot 1-inch tall and weighs 220 pounds.
Even though Amesbury is switching sports for this event, I wouldn't count him out. Anyone who has seen him play hockey knows that he is as tough as they come and he can dish it out as much as he can take a punch. After all, you don't get the nickname 'Diamond Hands' for nothing.
